Now that the cherry blossoms have finally bloomed (a week later than usual) and warm temperatures graced the Memorial Day weekend activities, it’s time to get serious about summer in Door County. Many return visitors like to do some of the same things they do each time they visit here. I’m challenging guests to branch out and explore Door County in new and different ways. I double-dog dare you to do a cannonball dive off the swimming dock at the Sister Bay beach. Find an open field and toss a frisbee, or, better yet, play a round of frisbee golf at the Sports Core. Drive out to the country (and you don’t have to go far to do that in Door County) and watch for shooting stars. Pack a lunch (the Piggly-Wiggly now has an extensive deli) and head up to the Door County Park in Ellison Bay for a picnic along the bluff. I could keep going with suggestions, but can come up with your own innovative ways to spend time up here. Come stay with us at Birchwood Lodge in Sister Bay and if needed, we’ll offer some fun ideas for your “day-trppin”. Give us a call at 866-854-7195, or reserve your suite online at www.birchwoodlodge.com. Make a list of things to do that’s true to you or borrow from ours.
