Don’t fret If you weren’t able to get up to Door County for the early fall events in September and October. There’s still time to enjoy some late October fun things up north when you stay at Birchwood Lodge in Sister Bay. We’re just a short drive from apple picking spots, and a number of indoor/outdoor activities. The weekend of October 20th – 21st, you can explore one-of-a-kind art galleries, shops, and nature trails in Ellison Bay. Enjoy refreshments and demonstrations while browsing this unique event. Start your holiday shopping as members of the Ellison Bay Arts group host an Art Crawl. Visit each distinctive shop and gallery with a chance to look into their studios and watch their creative process. Most places will have refreshments and giveaways and more over the weekend. Stock up on fall treats such as apples (the SweeTango is my favorite), pies, cider and yummy snacks and sweet treats for sale at farm markets. If you haven’t gotten your pumpkins yet for Halloween, you’ll find roadside stands and markets stocked with pumpkins and gourds in every size, reasonable prices, too! If you’re into hiking, try the delightful Hotz Trail at Newport State Park. Trees will still have some fall colors and the trail takes you to the Lake Michigan Shore. Plan for weather changes by packing layers of clothing. Check-in at the front desk of Birchwood Lodge where our friendly clerks will happily send you off in the fall adventures of your choice. Our lovely suites are the perfect place to relax with whirlpool tubs and gas fireplaces in most rooms. Give us a call at our toll-free number, 866-854-7195, or reserve your suite online at www.birchwoodlodge.com.
