There are so many reasons to love fall, but autumn sounds more elegant for this, the best of seasons to me. The weather is changing….finally!, Leaves are are just beginning to turn colors and there is a a sense of anticipation for things to come. School has started, the holidays are just around the corner, but things aren’t too crazy up here…. yet. The list of autumn things worth loving is long. Autumn vegetables and leafy greens are in season and many seasonal, delicious food & drink items – like pumpkin spice lattes, autumn flavored beers, apple and pecan pie, and cranberry sauce are reintroduced on restaurant menus. Autumn is also the perfect weather to wear your coziest sweaters. I like to remind myself and you of autumn favorites, mixed with some special things to do at Birchwood Lodge this season. Autumn leaves…try saving some of the best, most colorful leaves for bookmarks as you cozy up next to the fire in the lobby or in your room. Hot chocolate…we have new, mini-marshmallow infused hot chocolate packets, as well as apple cider and cranberry tea packets to warm you up after an exhilarating walk in the woods. Pumpkin… spice latte, pie (Yes!) and bread, soup, wine…we decorate the lodge with them and you can find displays and pumpkin patches dotting the farm areas near the lodge.. Apples…pick ’em, pack ’em and savor the smell of them with apple scented candles at the front desk. Leaf peeping in the woods….Peninsula State Park, Newport State Park, the Ridges Sanctuary…followed by a soothing soak in the double whirlpool tub in your suite. Fall football…whether you’re headed to or from a Green Bay Packers game (Chicago Bears, Minnesota Vikings, and St Louis Cardinal Fans are all warmly welcomed at Birchwood Lodge, too!), enjoy an overnight stay with us, or if you don’t want to miss all the game action while you’re away from home, you’ll find relaxing surroundings here to watch the game in your own room, in the second floor TV lounge area, or, in the “family room” on the first floor. There you have it…Birchwood Lodge (reservations at 866-854-7195 or on-line at www.birchwoodlodge.com) and fall activities blend perfectly for your this special seasonal getaway.
