People who call us about lodging possibilities at Birchwood Lodge sometimes ask what there is to do in Door County after the festivals are over in October into late fall. Our responses can be quite lengthy. If you’re curious too, we recommend biking or hiking in the state parks or shopping at nearby stores for great sale merchandise. Take advantage of quick access to great restaurants for immediate seating or short wait times. Some people love to walk near the harbor and watch the salmon jump as they return for spawning. There is still some fishing all around the area, and hunting season has begun. You can enjoy great entertainment at the Door Community Auditorium, as well as live music in many local venues. There are winery tours, trolley tours, Segway tours, or, you can drive the country back roads on your own to enjoy pastoral views. If you’ve never been here in any of the off season months, you’ll find many things to do in the “quiet time”, with reduced lodging rates. After a full day of activities, relax by the fireplace in one of our whirlpool suites, or take a dip in our heated indoor swimming pool. We’re always happy to see new and return guests at the Birchwood Lodge in Sister Bay.
