After a wintery beginning of spring in Door County, Saturday, April 27, 2013 dawned as a mild, sunny day, perfect weather for the “1st Annual Owners Work Day” at Birchwood Lodge in Sister Bay. Owners, Ardis Fletcher, Jeff Kruger, Preston and Lynn Reynolds, Paul Seger and Glen and Kris Weisman, joined Birchwood staff members Roman, Clark and Tom for the list of tasks. From early morning until late afternoon the owners/staff work crew planted 10 spruce trees, 12 potentilla bushes and 6 burning bushes, mulched all of the trees and flower beds near the Village Homes and cleared the weeds and edged the stone border surrounding the outdoor pool. At the noontime picnic lunch, owners commented that this was not only a good project, but also a great way to meet and socialize with other owners. Work continued throughout that afternoon and at the end of a very productive day, everyone was satisfied with their efforts. Guests will be pleased with the landscaping updates, too. There are still more outdoor projects and pool area clean-up tasks on the list of things to do. Owners who missed out on this opportunity to beautify the property may help out on another work day scheduled for Saturday, May 18, 2013, at 9:00 AM. If you can’t make the next scheduled work day, feel free to lend a hand on your next visit visit to the lodge. Give us a call ahead of time and we’ll get you set-up for something to do. Your assistance is needed and will be very much appreciated.
