As a result of new legislation that is part of the larger “Hunting Heritage” bill passed by the Wisconsin state assembly and senate, hunting, fishing and trapping will be permitted in Wisconsin state parks starting in January, 2013. Some hunting is already permitted in Door County state parks, but soon hunters, anglers and trappers will be allowed in Wisconsin state parks every season. It should be noted that every necessary safety precaution will be in place to assure the safety of visitors to all state parks. Peninsula State Park, Newport State Park, or any of the other Door County state parks, will still be year round attractions for all kinds of sports enthusiasts. Make your plans to stay at Birchwood Lodge in Sister Bay and then head out on your adventures.
