Door County was hit by torrential rainstorms on Thursday, Sept. 4th and Friday, Sept. 5th, 2014, in what has been described as an “epic storm of the century” by local weather forecasters.  More than eight inches of rain fell in northern Door County during the early morning hours on Friday, causing a flood on the first floor at Birchwood Lodge.  We were able to begin the clean-up process and restoration quickly and efficiently.  Restoration is continuing, but we’re happy to report that business was not interrupted and guests during that weekend were able to enjoy all of the facilities.  We anticipate hosting two groups of wedding guests the weekend of September 12th and 13th, with confidence that they, too, will enjoy their time and experience at Birchwood Lodge in Sister Bay.
