We created a blog entry recently about Clark Erickson, our maintenance man, and once again he is deserving of recognition and attention. Residents in Door County and most tourists are quite familiar with the famous, Al Johnson’s Swedish Restaurant and Butik in Sister Bay (with the goats on the roof). Recently Bo Johnson, a 12 year old grandson of Al, was diagnosed with a very serious form of leukemia. He is currently being treated at a hospital in Milwaukee and will be there for at least six months for the duration of his treatment. Annika Johnson, his mother has moved to Milwaukee to be with her son. Though many of Bo’s medical bills will be covered through insurance, there is still a financial burden for his mother, who will not be working during this time and will incur substantial living expenses so that she can be near her son. Goodhearted Clark decided to start a fundraiser in the area to help Bo and his mom, by selling rubber wristbands that say “Go Bo!” The first shipment of 300 wristbands sold out during Fall Fest weekend and more are being shipped out because so many people want to help with this cause. If you’re coming up anytime soon to stay at Birchwood Lodge, and you would like to purchase one of these special wristbands, they will be available at our front desk for $5.00 each. If you would simply like to make a donation to help out, please contact Allison Fletcher at Associated Bank in Sister Bay, (920) 854-2339. Thank you in advance for your generosity and hats off to Clark Erickson for your great efforts.
