Here it is, near the end of September and the trees around Door County have already started to change colors. That signals the beginning of another beautiful Fall season up here, which some people say rivals New England for gorgeous colors. This is also the time for seasonal festivals. The Pumpkin Patch Festival in Egg Harbor will be October 7 -10. The Village of Sister Bay says this about the Fall Festival, “The ‘Granddaddy‘ of all Door County festivals, 2010 will mark the 65th annual Fall Fest in Sister Bay. What began as a celebration and reward for the Door County tourist workers after a busy tourist season has evolved into one of the largest weekend celebrations on the peninsula! A parade, arts & crafts fair, food booths, live entertainment, and children’s activities make this a “must-do” weekend, but the real fun lies in one of the Fest’s oldest traditions – the famed Ping-Pong Ball Drop”on Sunday, October 17. Come on up and tour the parks and country lanes, stop at roadside markets for apples and pumpkins, indulge yourself with an apple cider doughnut, take advantage of end of season sales, and enjoy all of the festival and seasonal activities. For rest and relaxation, stay at the Birchwood Lodge in Sister Bay, just a short walk to Fall Festival activities. We’d be delighted to have you as our guest as you enjoy your fireplace suite with a whirlpool tub, but call soon to make your reservation.
