March 16, 2020
It likely will come as no surprise that the Birchwood Lodge has decided to suspend operations for the near-term future. Business operations throughout Door County, the state of Wisconsin, and the entire country are heeding the calls from our Public Health experts for extreme caution and social distancing. We are taking the necessary steps to do our part for the public good and the welfare of our staff, our guests and our community. You might know that Door County includes the highest percentage of senior citizen residents of any county in Wisconsin. This fact makes these actions even more relevant.
The Lodge will close operations effective immediately upon the departure of our current guests. We will then take all necessary steps for final deep cleaning and disinfecting of the Lodge. The Lodge will remain closed through at least April 12, 2020. Guests with existing reservations during the impacted timeframe have already been contacted. They have been offered a refund or credit towards future stays.
We will continue to closely follow the advice of public health experts and eventually make a forward-looking decision when the situation is best understood. We will post future actions here as soon as they are taken. In the meantime, our reservation desk will remain open for people wishing to make reservations after April 12, 2020. If it becomes necessary to extend the closure beyond April 12, 2020 all reserved guests will be offered the same options for refunds or credits.
We sincerely hope and pray that this health crisis will be contained and managed as best as possible. We can and must all do our part in this effort. Let’s hope that we are greeting guests at our beautiful Lodge sooner than later.
Sincerely,
Birchwood Lodge Board and Staff
